Abdullah Chan Welcomes Partner, Dato’ Muthanna Abdullah
It is with great pleasure that we announce the new addition of Dato’ Muthanna Abdullah to Abdullah Chan Advocates and Solicitors on 1st May 2012.
Dato’ Muthanna leaves the position of Managing Partner of Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill to spearhead Abdullah Chan’s regional expansion plans. He brings with him more than 28 years of experience in law practice. Dato’ Muthanna is well known for his leadership and relentless pursuit of ground breaking changes in law firm management.
Abdullah Chan’s senior partner Vincent Chan cast the regional expansion plans as part of a strategy to prepare the firm for the opening of the Malaysian legal profession to foreign lawyers in order to get a “running start”.
Vincent says “South East Asia and in particular Malaysia with its various Government-led initiatives such as the Economic Transformation Plan is rapidly establishing itself as a key jurisdiction and is increasingly of interest to leading international and regional firms.”
Dato Muthanna says “I believe we are in an opportune position; Abdullah Chan has already advised a number of Tier-1 clients on major cross-border M&A and capital market transactions, as such it makes business sense to build a regional footprint,”
As part of its expansion plans, the firm is currently in the midst of recruiting various experienced partners and associates looking for a regional challenge.
