Fu Wei Jie (Isaac) graduated with first-class honours from the University of Liverpool and completed the Bar Professional Training Course with a Very Competent grade. In 2019, he was called to the Bar of England and Wales by the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple in 2019 as a Barrister-at-Law (unregistered). Later, he completed his pupillage at one of the leading firms in Malaysia and was called to the Malaysian Bar in December 2020 as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya.
Isaac has been practicing as a corporate lawyer with a strong focus on mergers and acquisitions, aviation and aerospace, and corporate and commercial practices since he joined Abdullah Chan & Co in 2021.
Isaac has a robust background in assisting partners in diverse projects involving financial institutions, public listed companies, and aviation companies. His notable projects include but not limited to a bank merger, a digital banking license application, an acquisition of an insurance company, an acquisition of a computer numerical control machining company, an acquisition of a company involved in electricity distribution and centralized chilled water plant systems, corporate restructuring exercises. He has also advised on employment matters, non-disclosure agreements, competition law, service agreements, company policies, and other regulatory and compliance matters.
In addition, Isaac is actively involved in Aviation and Aerospace matters. His experience includes advising on the aviation hull and liability insurance, jurisdictional questionnaires, and aviation regulatory policies. His work encompasses the sale, leasing and financing of aircraft, including reviewing various contracts within the Malaysian legal framework.
Isaac has also contributed to the legal community as a judge for the general rounds of the International Cape Town Convention Moot Court Competition 2023 and the Taylor’s Intervarsity Mooting Competition 2024.
