Our Datin Shelina Razaly Wahi and our firm recently had the honour and privilege of hosting, as the Coordinating Firm, the first-ever Malaysia National Contact Group (NCG) Meeting of the Aviation Working Group (AWG) at our office on Friday 17 April 2026.

A special thank you to Paul Ng of Rajah & Tann Asia, who leads the AWG's Southeast Asia Regional Advisory Committee, and who kindly joined the meeting and briefed the attendees on the various AWG resource materials.

The session brought together aviation lawyers from across Malaysia (for the first time altogether in a single room, we believe!), for a meaningful discussion on key developments and collaborative efforts within the aviation sector, particularly focusing on matters relevant to the Capetown Convention. We also reviewed, on a collective basis, the draft Q1 2026 AWG Compliance Index questionnaire.

Aviation lawyers make up a fairly small community amongst all the other sectors represented in the legal profession and we were thrilled to note the high attendance rate, with only 1 firm being unable to attend this time around. Having kicked this off, we look forward to more opportunities for collaboration and knowledge sharing in the future.
