Biography
Datin Shelina Razaly Wahi graduated from the University of Bristol and is a Barrister of Lincoln’s Inn, England. She was admitted and enrolled as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1998. Datin Shelina began her legal career as a litigation lawyer, then moved in-house as corporate counsel with a large multinational O&G company, followed by stints at a leading media, content & consumer service provider, a start-up airline and an F&B start-up, before returning to corporate legal practice.
As Legal Director of AirAsia X, Datin Shelina helped the Airline grow from a single aircraft in 2007 to more than a dozen widebodies in 2014, and saw through AirAsia X Berhad’s successful Initial Public Offering in July 2013.
In Shell Malaysia, Datin Shelina served various roles – as focal point for all HR-related legal matters; and taking direct responsibility for managing all major litigation matters. With Astro Malaysia, she took a break from law and pioneered a 24-hour kids’ channel in Bahasa Malaysia.
In addition to legal practice, Datin Shelina is currently the founding Secretary of the Malaysia Aerospace Industry Association, as well as the Secretary of the Business Aviation Association, and assists members companies in their dealings with Government agencies, banks and other industry stakeholders.

Datin Shelina authored the Malaysian chapters on Aircraft Finance and Liens respectively (Sweet & Maxwell). Datin Shelina’s practice focuses primarily on commercial aviation – including acquisitions, finance and operating leases and sale / leaseback transactions. Her team also works with clients in the general aviation sphere – on acquisitions and disposals, financing and regulatory matters.
Aerospace is an active and growing area in Malaysia, and Datin Shelina advises clients in the manufacturing, services, MRO and design sectors of Aerospace – including in cross-border transactions, contracts, compliance and regulatory matters. On the Corporate / Commercial side, Datin Shelina has advised various Aerospace / Aviation clients on Joint Ventures, Mergers and Acquisitions and Disposals.
Datin Shelina was a finalist for the Aviation Lawyer of the Year in the Women in Business Law Awards (APAC) 2022 and was recognised in the Euromoney Expert Guides “Women in Business Law” 2021 and 2022 as a leading practitioner for Aviation in Malaysia; in addition to her inclusion into the Euromoney Aviation Expert Guide annually since 2018.

- Led Aircraft and Engine Acquisitions, including leasing, financing, and sale/leaseback transactions.
- Managed HR, operations, and engineering contracting matters in aviation.
- Handled regulatory approvals and negotiations for new airline destinations in Australia, China, the UK, Japan, and Korea, including air rights, air traffic negotiations, and airport station setup.
- Served as the primary liaison with Malaysian and international regulators, including Civil Aviation authorities and government ministries.
- Authored the Malaysian chapters on Aircraft Finance and Liens (Sweet & Maxwell).
- Advised clients on commercial aviation transactions, general aviation, aerospace manufacturing, MRO, design, and regulatory compliance.
- Assisted in corporate advisory, including joint ventures, mergers & acquisitions, and disposals in the aerospace sector.
